How to Donate Winter Coats (Part II)

There are many charities that you can donate winter coats to and make a difference.

One Warm Coat

The organization, established in 1992, is devoted to offering a free warm coat, to anyone who needs it. If you no longer need a coat, don’t throw it away. Give it to One Warm Coat. You can enter your zip code online in order to find spots to donate.

New York Cares

If you live in NYC, this is possibly the simplest method for you. There is more than 300 drop off spots in the city, so there is probably one within walking distance for Manhattanites who want to support New York Cares.

Operation Warm

If you don’t have any extra coats to give, but want to do more with some of that extra money burning a hole in your pocket, you can work with Operation Warm which has given over three million coats to children in the U.S. You basically donate money for new winter coats, which gives a child in need the freedom and confidence to learn, play, and do more. Over 20 percent of the organization’s coats are made in the US.

Burlington Coat Factory’s Warm Coats & Warm Hearts

Discount retailer Burlington Coat Factory sponsors the Warm Coats & Warm Hearts Coat Drive, which is a partnership between K.I.D.S./Fashion Delivers and Good Morning America. The campaign depends on the compassion and generosity of customers who can drop off gently worn coats at all stores. You also receive 10% off a purchase when you donate.
